On the 24th February 2024, UCA-UK hosted a film screening of the movie documentary 'Why Us?' which looks at the lives of children impacted by Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

On the 17th November 2023 UCA-UK held a fundraising orchestral concert to raise money for humanitarian aid for vulnerable people in Ukraine.

On the 10th June 2023, musicians part of UCA-UK performed at Shenfest Music and Literature festival. We had exceptional performances from our bandora duo, world-class flutist, and professional poetry reading.

In February 2023, UCA UK held a classical concert fundraising social event in Esher Parish Council, where we also introduced our new UCA UK string quartet.

The Spirit of Ukraine Fundraising Gala Concert

On the 17th June, UCA-UK demonstrated the Spirit of Ukraine through their sell out, inaugural gala concert, fundraising for vital humanitarian aid for the victims of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The concert was held at the renowned St John's Smith Square in the heart of Westminster, and was presented by the BBC World News Presenter, Kasia Madera.

In May 2022, Alla was honoured to perform on piano her original compositions, alongside the famous and talented James Bond actress, Maryam d'Abo, who was reading poems of our Ukrainian war poets, translated in English. Well-known New York director, Christian Holder, and the producers and actors-Peter Tate and Sarah Lawrie, also collaborated on the project to deliver high-flying performances. We raised over £2000 from this show for our charitable causes in Ukraine!

Esher Charity Gala Concert for Ukraine

On Saturday the 21st May, UCA-UK held a charity fundraiser with the Parish of Esher, to fundraise for Ukraine. Popular Ukrainian songs and original compositions by Alla Sirenko we’re performed, along with well known operatic arias and Ukrainian and English poetry. The buffet supper, was kindly sponsored by Mama Olga's Kitchen enterprise, serving Ukrainian and Italian cuisine. 

A Celebration of Women in Music: in support of humanitarian aid in Ukraine

On the 4th March 2022, The Federation of Women's Associations in London and UCA-UK presented A Celebration of Women in music, with donations collected to support humanitarian aid in Ukraine. Through the musical talents of Alla Sirenko, Pianist and Composer, Orpheus Leander, Violinist, and the Barcarolle Choir, we managed to raise a whopping £3,000.

The Road to Bethlehem

On the 23rd January 2022, UCA-UK held a virtual showing of The Road to Bethlehem. This was a Ukrainian take on the classic Nativity story, which was told using artistic puppetry, and enjoyed by children and adults alike.

A Merry Ukrainian Christmas Feast

On the 12th December 2021, we managed to hold a Covid safe Christmas Feast in the Prosperity Ukrainian restaurant in Twickenham. The event, which was open to members and their guests, featured Ukrainian Carols, food, and wine tasting, followed by a good old Ukrainian zabava/dance.

A Celebration of Freedom

On the 1st October 2021, the Ukrainian Cultural Association in the UK (UCA-UK) hosted a Celebration of Freedom, commemorating 30 years of Ukraine’s independence. Our Minister-Counsellor, Andrei Marchenko, was delighted to give the opening address, and attend the event on behalf of the Embassy of Ukraine to the United Kingdom and Great Britain.

The event filled St John’s Church in Notting Hill with world-class classical music, operatic singing and moving poetry readings in both English and Ukrainian. The UCA-UK showcased a wealth of culture from our proud Ukrainian nation.


Professional musicians and artists with Ukrainian, Greek, British, Asian and Polish backgrounds mesmerised a diverse audience. We were also treated to a beautiful art exhibition and sale from two renowned Ukrainian painters, and UCA-UK members, that specialise in watercolour and abstract art; Olga Brown and Olga Baklan.

Springtime Harp Concert

UCA -UK presented a mesmerising selection of popular romantic harp music from France, Germany, Ireland and Ukraine, from the 19th century to the present day. 

Pieces were performed by talented international harpists from the Guildhall School of Music, under the direction of the head of the Harp Department, and world renowned harpist, Imogen Barford.

Spiritual Music of Ukraine

In advance of the anniversary of Chernobyl, we hosted a remembrance concert for all those affected by this tragic disaster. This included a selection of music and performances from the Ukrainian male ensemble- Kalophonia, and a selection of other performances of a beautiful orchestral and choir music from Ukraine, Georgia and Armenia. We also highlighted stories and facts to raise awareness about the Chernobyl disaster throughout the concert, and why the music chosen was so relevant in its memorial.

Concert in memory of great Ukrainian Poet, Taras Shevchenko

In March 2021, the UCA - UK held a concert in memory of the great Ukrainian Poet, Taras Shevchenko, including poetry recitals of his works, classical compositions and patriotic songs from Ukraine.

Orchestral Highlights of Lviv Philharmonic

The UCA - UK presented a virtual classical concert of orchestral highlights of the Lviv Philharmonic. Performance pieces included Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Kolessa and Sirenko.

The Reindeer with the Golden Antlers

Ukrainian Cultural Association in partnership with British-Ukrainian Aid
hosted an online Show - a winter fairy tale “The Reindeer with Golden Antlers” performed by the Lviv State Puppet Theatre actors
 
The story
Is having golden antlers an asset or an unbearable burden? A reindeer with golden antlers roams the Carpathian Mountains in search of sincerity and true friendship. A young boy Vasilko is also looking for a soulmate and faithful friend. Will they meet? This fascinating Carpathian folklore about the freedom and power of the mountains, as well as human spirit will immerse you in an atmosphere of goodness, love and devotion.

Christmas Charity Gala 2020

Our Christmas Charity Gala was presented by FIWAL and UCA-UK, and in partnership with British-Ukrainian Aid.

Through the event, we managed to raise over £1000 to help orphaned and vulnerable children in Ukraine.

The concert was performed at St John's Anglican Church in London, and featured both traditional UK and Ukrainian Christmas songs. They were performed by an number of talented artists:

  • Orpheus Leander, expert and well-known violinist

  • Vivo, the glorious Ukrainian vocal quartet

  • Alla Sirenko, the exceptional pianist, composer and writer
